Saxophonist interpreter and improviser, Alfonso Lozano (Valencia, 1974)
is an artist engaged in musical creation.
He interprets the music of his time and is engaged in the search for new
playing modes, new musical languages and gestures throughout the multiple
aesthetics of written and improvised music. His main artistic concerns are the on-stage use of space and
the interrelationship between body, instrument and gesture.
After having received the First Prize of the CSMD in Alicante, in 2001,
he is admitted as a post-graduate in Contemporary Music in the saxophone
international class at the CRR of Bordeaux.
Artistic director of the Takloy ensemble since its creation in 2001, he
works through exchanges with other composers and cooperates with other artistic
groups such as Compagnie La Renverse Les Imprvisibles, Lux-Nox-Mix Proxima
Centauri or the Bordeaux National Orchestra. Hers actions are developed in
partnership with Festivals, Theaters, National Scenes, Music Schools and
Conservatoires, and other organizations linked to the promotion of music.
In parallel, Alfonso Lozano is engaged in a large educational work in
the Aquitaine region. In 2009, he
passes the French national exam for Arts Professors (Concours de Professeur
dEnseignement Artistique).

Alfonso Lozano
is one of those determined artists who try to defend the music of their time.
This saxophonist
refuses to express himself in a conventional musical language, he makes
research, he experiments and he performs the best thoughts of the composers
with whom he collaborates. This creates special and fertile relationships.
The work that
results is very open-minded, full of talent and determination. This artist
wants to bring saxophone to the center of the contemporary impulse.
I
congratulate him.
